PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical guidance system which monitors conditions of a patient during a surgical procedure and issues an alert upon detection of a condition associated with a monitored condition.SOLUTION: The surgical guidance system includes an MRI unit 210 that allows for real-time imaging and patient monitoring during a surgical procedure. Prior to surgery, a surgical plan is created using a planning interface 235. A control unit 230 receives the real-time image data and the surgical plan, and monitors the image data based on parameters included in the surgical plan. The control-unit 230 monitoring occurs in real-time while the surgical procedure is being performed.
