PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing γ-Glu-Abu and a method for producing a yeast extract containing γ-Glu-Abu.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for producing γ-Glu-Abu, the method comprising: culturing yeast having γ-Glu-Abu-producing ability in a culture medium to produce and accumulate γ-Glu-Abu in the culture, the yeast being modified to retain muted GAP1 gene and/or modified to increase the activity of protein encoded by YGL114w gene； and collecting γ-Glu-Abu from the culture medium.
