The present invention relates to a poor layer chicken selecting system having a means for ultimately and simply selecting only a poor layer chicken among layer chickens, and a poor layer chicken selecting method. The poor layer chicken selecting system comprises: a cage unit (10) formed by arranging a plurality of individual cases (11) to accommodate chickens therein a transport unit (20) to transport eggs discharged from the cage unit (10) a connection unit (30) to guide the eggs discharged from the cage unit (10) to the transport unit (20) and a sensor unit (40) installed in the transport unit (20) or the connection unit (30) to recognize and count the number of eggs discharged from each individual cage (11). The poor layer chicken selecting method comprises: a first step of stopping a transport unit (20) while eggs are discharged to the transport unit (20) from a cage unit (10) during a prescribed time a second step of operating the transport unit (20) after the prescribed time elapses to count the number of eggs discharged from each individual cage (11) to identify a cage whose egg discharge quantity is lower than a reference a third step of accommodating chickens in a cage estimated to include a poor layer chicken according to the number of eggs counted in the second step in a cage of a poor layer chicken area by one chicken at a time and a fourth step of performing the first step and the second step again for chickens accommodated in the poor layer chicken area in the third step.
