The ankle brace (1) has a knitted fabric portion (2) which is shaped corresponding to leg and foot in the area of the ankle. The fabric portion is stretched and contracted by clamping element (9), in carrying position. A plastic stabilizing element (16) is provided with heel portion (17), lateral side section (18) and embracing section (19) for heel and ankle joint. The connecting elements (14) are arranged at outer side of stabilization element and inner side of fabric portion such that the stabilization element is removably fixed in fabric portion by connecting elements.
