The present disclosure relates generally to orthopedic surgery and, more particularly, to systems and methods for measuring performance parameters associated with joint replacement surgeries. The present disclosure describes a force and orientation sensing system comprising a force sensing module (130) which has a first and second set of sensors (432 a-c, 433 a-c) disposed in a housing (430 a-b) for sensing forces incident on the medial and lateral portion of the articular surface, respectively. The system also includes an orientation sensing module, comprising a first and second orientation sensor (140 a-b) which include gyroscopes, configured to detect the relative orientation of at least two bones associated with the articular joint.
