PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technology for improving the dispersed state of ultraviolet ray absorbing fine particles such as titanium oxide.SOLUTION: There is provided a particulate ultraviolet ray absorbing material 10 comprising a base particle 11 and a plurality of ultraviolet ray absorbing fine particles 12 attached to the base particle, wherein the average particle diameter of the ultraviolet ray absorbing fine particles is ≤175 nm. Fixation of ultraviolet ray absorbing fine particles in a state attached to the base particle can prevent dense gathering and aggregation of only the ultraviolet ray absorbing fine particles in a compounded composition such as a cosmetic product. Ultraviolet ray shielding property is improved by the structure.
