The present invention relates to extrication board (1) which is for example intended to be used during movement of an injured person. The extrication board (1) includes at least one first section (2) and at least one second section (3) which are telescopically adjustable in relation to one another. The extrication board (1) includes at least one energy-releasing unit (11) which when needed releases force that aids in pushing apart the first section (2) and the second section (3). The present invention also includes a method for utilizing the extrication board (1) where the extrication board (1) is initially placed in its retracted position between the injured person's back and the vehicle seat's back rest, after which the injured person is temporarily secured to the extrication board's (1) first section (2). The method's unique function is that the energy-releasing unit's (11) released force when necessary may be used as a lifting aid in moving the extrication board (1) with the injured person out of the vehicle's seat at the same time the extrication board (1) is extended.
