The antimicrobial composition of the present invention comprises a cationic active ingredient, a quaternized sugar-derived surfactant, and an optional foam boosting surfactant. The present antimicrobial compositions are free of the antimicrobial agent triclosan (i.e., 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'hydroxy-diphenylether), have a high cidal activity in a short amount of time, provide stable copious foam and exhibit enhanced tissue (e.g. skin) compatibility as defined by an in vitro whole toxicology assessment method.L'invention concerne une composition antimicrobienne comprenant un principe actif cationique, un tensio-actif dérivé d'un sucre quaternisé et un tensio-actif facultatif renforçateur de mousse. Les compositions antimicrobiennes de la présente invention sont exemptes d'agent antimicrobien triclosan (c'est-à-dire, le 2,4,4'-trichloro-2'hydroxy-diphényléther), ont une activité bactéricide élevée dans une courte période de temps, permettent d'obtenir une mousse stable abondante et présentent une compatibilité tissulaire (par exemple cutanée) accrue telle que définie par un procédé d'estimation toxicologique globale in vitro.
