The needle safety system is for syringes that include a substantially tubular cylinder that extends along the long axis. The cylinder contains a hub from which the needle extends toward the tip. The needle safety system includes a sleeve that surrounds at least a portion of the needle. A guide path is formed in the sleeve. The annular member disposed within the sleeve consists of a plurality of parts and includes an inner annular member that can be fixed to the hub of the cylinder. An outer annular member is rotatably attached to the inner annular member. The guide pin extending outward in the radial direction from the outer annular member is slidably connected to the guide path.
