This capsule endoscope system, which is provided with a capsule endoscope having first and second imaging units, and an image display device 5 for displaying images captured by the first and second imaging units, is provided with: a control unit 56 that determines the direction of progression of the capsule endoscope during imaging, and identifies the imaging unit which is facing the direction of progression of the capsule endoscope during imaging and a display control unit 57 that generates a picture containing a first display region in which images on the direction of progression side of the capsule endoscope are positioned, and a second display region in which images on the opposite side to the direction of progression are positioned. The display control unit 57 positions the images captured by the imaging unit identified by the control unit 56 in the first display region, and positions the images captured by the other imaging unit in the second display region.
