A surgical device 10 includes a handle assembly 12, a drive assembly 20, and a lockout mechanism 30. The handle assembly 12 includes a fixed handle 14 and a moveable handle 16. The moveable handle 16 includes an internal end 21 defining an opening 22. The opening 22 includes a toothed rack 23. The moveable handle 16 has an initial position and a full-squeezed position. In the initial position, the moveable handle 16 is spaced-apart from the fixed handle 14. In the full-squeezed position, the moveable handle 16 is approximated toward the fixed handle 14. The drive assembly 20 is disposed within the handle assembly 12 and is engaged by the toothed rack 23. The lockout mechanism 30 is disposed with in the handle assembly 12 and is engaged with the moveable handle 16 to prevent movement of the moveable handle 16 towards the initial position before the moveable handle 16 reaches the full-squeezed position.
