A surgical stapling device includes reload assembly that is supported on adistalportion of an elongate shaft of the surgical stapling device. The reloadincludes a housing, apusher assembly movably supported within the housing, a knife carrier movablysupportedwithin the pusher assembly, and an annular knife supported on the knifecarrier. The elongatebody includes a pusher drive member and a knife carrier pusher. The knifecarrier includesfirst engagement structure that is configured to releasably engage secondengagementstructure formed on the knife carrier pusher to releasably couple the knifecarrier pusher tothe knife carrier. The knife carrier supports at least one detent that ismovable into contactwith a distal portion of the pusher drive member as the knife carrier isretracted to urge thefirst engagement structure out of engagement with the second engagementstructure touncouple the knife carrier from the knife carrier pusher.
