The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention or treatment of diabetic neuropathy which contains, as an active ingredient, polynucleotides encoding different kinds of variants of HGF or the above-mentioned variants. The present invention was the first invention to discover that diabetes mellitus can be prevented and treated using different types of variants of HGF.
