Disclosed is a device for the administering medication, such as a drug. Thedevice for has a lower housing and a syringe supported by the lower housing.Thesyringe has a needle attached thereto and medication disposed therein. Thedevice alsohas a plunger rod, an upper housing, and a biasing element. The upper housingismoveably supported by the lower housing and moves toward the lower housing tocausethe plunger rod to advance into the syringe and eject the medication out theneedle. Thebiasing element biases the upper housing to move toward the lower housing, butisinsufficient to cause the upper housing to move toward the lower housing.Instead, thebiasing element assists an external force which is applied to the upperhousing in adirection toward the lower housing so as to cause the upper housing to movetoward thelower housing.
