Provided is a cosmetic composition having excellent storage stability and excellent moisturizing effect as well as excellent tanning speed and evenness of tanning.The cosmetic composition comprising the following components (A) to (E):(A) a copolymer or crosspolymer which comprises, as a constituent unit, at least one selected from the group consisting of an acrylic acid salt and hydroxyethyl acrylate, and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid or a salt thereof； polyacrylamide； or a mixture thereof；(B) a polyglycerol fatty acid ester；(C) 10 to 35 mass% of a polyhydric alcohol；(D) 0.1 to 20 mass% of a liquid oil； and(E) a tanning agent,and having a viscosity of from 2,000 to 20,000 mPa·s.
