Dried defatted cereal meal with adsorbed and concentrated health functional ingredients, concentrate of health functional ingredients prepared from the meal, and methods for producing them
Provided is a method whereby a polar health functional ingredient such as ?-oryzanol, tocopherol or polyphenols can be purified and obtained by a practically available, convenient and effective procedure. Also provided is a health functional ingredient-containing material which is produced by the above-described method and can be effectively used. A material containing a polar health functional ingredient such as ?-oryzanol, tocopherol or polyphenols is extracted with an organic solvent and the obtained extract is subjected to an adsorption treatment with the use of a dry defatted cereal bran as an adsorption carrier. Thus, a dry defatted cereal bran comprising the polar health functional ingredient such as ?-oryzanol, tocopherol or polyphenols adsorbed and concentrated therein is produced. The dry defatted cereal bran, which comprises the polar health functional ingredient adsorbed and concentrated therein, or a concentrate of the health function ingredient produced by the above-described method is applicable for purposes over a broad range without any restriction in using as a material.
