The present specification discloses a solution delivery device having a container component and a plug component configured to selectively engage the container component. The container component has an internal cavity that includes an elongated mixing channel containing a first component, and the plug component introduces a second component into the mixing channel for mixing with the first component. An internal flow path configured as described above is provided. The plug component may be partially inserted in the first operating mode and fully inserted into the container component in the second operating mode. The first component may be a drug and the second component is a diluent so that the drug can be lyophilized in the first mode of operation and the device can be reduced in the second mode of operation.
