The present invention discloses useful polymerizable azo dye absorption as a monomer in the formation of devices such as (but not limited to) the ophthalmic lens. In particular, I disclose an intraocular lens (IOL) that is covalently bonded to the polymer structure of other absorption dyes one or more through the ethylenically unsaturated group.
