The invention relates to a replaceable sampling unit. The unit includes a forward barrel portion provided with a sharp front opening a longitudinally movable plunger in the forward barrel portion and a rearward barrel portion. The sharp front opening is adapted for cutting a specimen from a sample source. The rearward barrel portion is adapted for removable engagement with a tubular main body, thereby constituting a sampling device.
