The present invention uses a virtual screening method to search for currently marketed drugs as anti-schizophrenia therapy, ie, reuses drugs for other purposes. Drug reuse methods find new uses other than the original medical application of existing drugs. The discovery of new applications for such drugs would be beneficial for patients who are potentially in need of new therapies sooner because known drugs usually have a recognized safety and pharmacokinetic profile . In this study, the reuse of a commercially available drug as a DAAO inhibitor in a new schizophrenia therapy was conducted by a virtual screening for a commercially available drug and its metabolite. The identified available drugs and compounds were further confirmed in an in vitro DAAO enzyme inhibition assay.
