One aspect of the invention relates to a sunscreen composition comprising at least one sunscreen agent, at least one film forming polymer, at least one solvent, and at least one thickening agent, wherein said thickening agent is present in an amount in the range of 0.01-0.2%(w/w). Another aspect of the present invention relates to the use of a thickening agent for increasing the sun protection factor of a sunscreen composition comprising at least one sunscreen agent, at least one film forming polymer, and at least one solvent.
