PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a therapeutic or preventive agent for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) based on the onset mechanism of ROP, and to provide an inspection method for ROP.SOLUTION: Provided are a therapeutic or preventive agent for ROP containing at least one, as an active ingredient, selected from the group consisting of a tryptase inhibitor and a mast cell stabilizer derived from a mast cell； and an inspection method for ROP comprising the steps of detecting a marker material which may be released by a degranulation of a mast cell from a biological sample derived from patients, and determining ROP based on the amount of detection of the marker.【課題】未熟児網膜症（ＲＯＰ）の発症機構に即したＲＯＰの治療又は予防剤、及びＲＯＰの検査方法の提供。【解決手段】肥満細胞に由来するトリプターゼインヒビター及び肥満細胞スタビライザーからなる群より選択された少なくとも１種を有効成分とするＲＯＰの治療又は予防剤；患者に由来する生体試料から、肥満細胞の脱顆粒により放出され得るマーカー物質を検出すること、前記マーカーの検出量に基づいてＲＯＰと判定すること、を含む、ＲＯＰの検査方法。【選択図】なし
