The packaging material according to one aspect of the present invention is a packaging material main body having a storage portion for storing stored items, a sheet for sealing the storage portion, and a sheet so as to pass over the closed opening of the storage portion. It is provided with a lead wire formed in a sheet and a wireless communication device formed on a sheet so as to be connected to the lead wire. The wireless communication device transmits a signal including information containing different information before and after the lead wire is cut together with the sheet when the storage portion is opened. The information transmitted from the wireless communication device is read by the reading device.
