The invention relates to a medical device (10) comprising: - a device body (12) preferably comprising a material susceptible to corrosion or biodegradation and - a shellac coating (14), wherein the device body (12) is at least partially covered by the shellac coating (14), wherein the shellac coating (14) has a thickness from 0.1 µm to 20 µm.
