An improved pain management and post-operative hip orthosis (10) includes a waist strap (11) having first and second ends (21, 22) and a lateral portion (23) therebetween, a lower strap (12) having first and second ends (31, 32) and a lateral portion (33) therebetween, and a pocket (13) extending between the waist strap (11) and lower strap (12). The pocket (13) has inner and outer panels (50, 51) fastened to each other to define an upper opening (40) and a lower opening (41). The orthosis (10) further includes an abduction harness (90) including two upper straps (91) and a lower strap (92) coupled to each other at a central union (94), wherein the upper straps (91) are secured to the top (42) of the pocket (13) and the lower strap (92) is secured to the bottom (43) of the pocket (13).
