An electrosurgical device for cutting and sealing tissue, comprising an upper grip located at the distal end of the electrosurgical device and a lower grip opposite the upper grip. The lower grip is pivotally connected to the upper grip by the pivot connection. The swivel connection includes a passage that houses a portion of the upper gripping tool. The upper grip is axially displaceable through the passage to pivot the upper grip relative to the lower grip between a relative open state and a relative closed state.
