Disclosed is a cosmetic composition comprising: (i) 0.1 to 10 pcnt by weight pongamol； (ii) 0.1 to 10 pcnt by weight karanjin； and, (iii) 0.1 to 40 pcnt by weight of a solvent whose Total Hildebrand Parameter (5t) value is 18 to 26 MPa0.5 at 25øC, wherein said composition comprises not more than 2 pcnt by weight pongamia oil. The composition provides abrasion resistant photoprotection to skin.
