Provided is a radiation imaging apparatus having a photon-counting detector such that variations in count rate performance due to self-heating of a photon-counting circuit are suppressed and photon-detecting accuracy is improved. The photon-counting detector includes: a semiconductor layer (21) which receives photons of radiation and generates a charge； a photon-counting circuit (35) which reads out a current from a pixel electrode formed on one side of the semiconductor layer (21)； and a heat generation compensating circuit (25) which controls the heat generation by the photon-counting circuit (35) according to the count rate of the photon-counting circuit (35).
