PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can process an image captured by an endoscope system to facilitate visual understanding of a desired portion in the image, and to provide an endoscope system.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus includes: a color image acquiring unit for acquiring an image captured with colors expressed by a combination of RGB three colors a component designation unit for receiving a designation of a light wave-length component and an emphasizing process unit for processing the image captured by the color image acquisition unit to emphasize or de-emphasize the wave-length component designated by the component section.
