The method involves obtaining an optical coherence tomography (OCT) data set that represents a set of tuples by sampling recording volume of an OCT recording device (5), where each tuple has values for spatial coordinates and distribution intensity. A color image data set of a two-dimensional color image is obtained, and an image data set is generated based on analysis of the OCT data set and the color image data set by projecting a color value of the color image data set on a determined depth of a three-dimensional distribution structure of the OCT data set.
