An electric wheelchair according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a wheelchair main body provided with a sitting portion, wheels arranged at both sides of the sitting portion, and wheel shafts coupled with the wheels at both ends thereof, respectively； a driving portion formed with a battery portion, a driving motor providing a driving force to the wheel shaft, and a predetermined space therein, and including a driving housing located with the battery portion and the driving motor therein； a universal joint connected to the driving motor at one end thereof, and connected to the wheel shaft at the other end thereof； a slope detecting sensor located at the center portion of the sitting portion, and detecting a slope of the electric wheelchair； a location adjusting portion moving the driving portion to a first direction and a second direction perpendicular to the first direction； and a control portion controlling the location adjusting portion based on a signal received from the slope detecting sensor.본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 전동 휠체어는 착좌부, 상기 착좌부의 양측에 각각 배치된 바퀴, 및 상기 바퀴가 양단에 각각 결합된 바퀴축을 구비하는 휠체어 본체； 배터리부 및 상기 바퀴축에 구동력을 제공하는 구동모터, 및 내부에 소정의 공간이 형성되어, 상기 배터리부와 구동모터가 내부에 위치하는 구동 하우징을 포함하는 구동부； 일단이 상기 구동모터에 연결되고, 타단이 상기 바퀴축에 연결된 유니버셜 조인트； 상기 착좌부의 중앙부에 위치하고, 상기 전동 휠체어의 기울기를 감지하는 기울기 감지 센서； 상기 구동부를 제1방향 및 상기 제1 방향과 수직방향인 제2 방향으로 이동시키는 위치 조절부； 및 상기 기울기 감지 센서에서 수신된 신호를 기초로 하여, 상기 위치 조절부를 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.
