The method involves having components passing a sensor (3) with values determined and stored on a storage medium of a computer (5). The determined values are interpreted by a program. From the determined values, the degree of pollution and or the germ ability and or calibration of the bulk material are determined. The values determine the grain size spectrum of the bulk material, the compactness of the components of the bulk material and the number of grains of the bulk material. The values are determined using the interpretative program which is computed by algorithms.
