PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable good thawing of a large amount of a frozen material and improve safety and processability in thawing work.SOLUTION: In a thawing apparatus, when a timer switch 114 is turned on after completion of counting, a voltage adjusted by a slide transformer 116 is applied to a step-up transformer 52, and a high voltage is thereby outputted to an output wire 52A of the step-up transformer and applied to a discharge panel 50 through a contact terminal 60. Then, a high voltage discharge occurs between the discharge panel and a conductive interior material 26 of a prefabricated refrigerator 10 to generate a flow of a weak current, and an object W is thawed. In conjunction with opening and closing of a door 12 of the prefabricated refrigerator detected by a door opening/closing interlocking switch 142, the discharge and stopping of the discharge are controlled.
