The present invention discloses a novel formulation for treatment of alopecia and han loss which comprises sesame oil and water extracts of dried Leech, dried seeds of Celastrus paniculatus and dried parts (like leaf, bark, rind, root, branch, stem, fruits and flowers) of Nyctanthes arbortristis and a method for preparation of the said formulation. The formulation possesses synergistic effect in promoting re-growth of lost hairs in case of alopecia. Also, it is simple to formulate and is cost-effective owing to only three number of active ingredients.
