The method may include providing a steerable medical device, advancing the steerable medical device through a vein to a position adjacent to the kidney, advancing the steerable medical device through a vessel wall of the vein and into body tissue positioned adjacent to a renal artery, and steering the steerable medical device around at least a portion of the renal artery.
