The compound has formula (I) X-CR1R2R3, where R1 denotes a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 6-16 carbon atoms, where said hydrocarbon group can have 0, 1 or more functional groups selected from OH and ether (-O-) R2 denotes H or a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group having 6-16 carbon atoms, where said hydrocarbon group can have 0, 1 or more functional groups selected from OH and ether (-O-) R3 denotes X or OH X denotes part of a molecule of formula II:or an ammonium or C1-C4 alkylammonium salt of part of a molecule formula II, where x equals 0 or 1 y equals 0 or 1 z equals 0 or 1 m is a number ranging from 2 to 10 n is a number ranging from 0 to 10 o is a number ranging from 0 to 10 R4 denotes H or a C1-C4 alkyl group R5 denotes a C6-C22 alkyl or alkenyl group or, if n or o is equal to at least 1, a C7-C23 acyl group R6 denotes H or R5 R7 denotes a C1-C4 alkylene group.
