The invention relates to the field of medicine and, more specifically, to an antibacterial agent for treating infectious diseases of bacterial origin, including hospital-acquired infections and drug-resistant tuberculosis, in the form of a nanostructured ionic complex synthesized from carbohydrates, proteins and/or polypeptides (albumins, interleukins, interferons, signal proteins, etc.) which, in order to enhance the antimicrobial effect in vivo through the activation of immunocompetent cells, contain at least one terminal amino acid, such as Phe, Ala, Val, Ala, Leu, He, etc., with electron donor functional groups, iodine and alkaline and alkaline-earth element halides in the fourth stage at a given ionic strength the antibacterial agent increases the sensitivity of bacteria, including antibiotic-resistant bacteria, to antibiotics, enhances monocyte and macrophage activity and increases the effectiveness of the antibiotic treatment of hospital-acquired infections and drug-resistant tuberculosis, as well as having an antiviral effect, stimulating the haematogenic function of the bone marrow and exhibiting an antitumour effect and radioprotective properties. With the components in acceptable concentrations, the antibacterial agent can be used as a non-medicinal agent (a biologically active additive or parapharmaceutical agent).
