An apparatus and method for improving presbyopia of a patient by inserting a lens into the cornea. One embodiment according to the present invention provides an apparatus and method for injecting a lens into a corneal flap or pocket. The lens or pocket is preferably formed by a laser used in conventional LASIK surgery. The apparatus includes a syringe or handle, a plunger that extends movably through the lumen of the syringe, and a paddle. The paddle extends from the distal end of the syringe and is configured to hold a lens to be inserted into the eye. The paddle is also configured to form a fluid flow path in fluid communication with the syringe lumen and to allow saline to flow over the paddle to lift the lens from the paddle and insert the lens into the eye.
