PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film-forming resin for hair fixing, not becoming sticky even in high humidity, capable of keeping the hair style for a long period, and exhibiting excellent cleanability at shampooing and to provide a hair cosmetic containing the resin.SOLUTION: The film-forming resin for the hair fixing is obtained by copolymerizing monomer components comprising the following monomer components (A) to (D): (A) CH2=C(R1)-COO-R2-Si(OR3)3 of 0.5-20 wt.% (B) CH2=C(R1)-COOR4 of 20-98.5 wt.% (C) CH2=C(R1)-COO-R5-OH of 0.5-60 wt.% and (D) an ampholytic group-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer of 0.5-50 wt.%. (In the formulas, R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group R2 is a 1-3C divalent saturated hydrocarbon group R3 is a 1-3C alkyl group or an acetyl group R4 is a 1-18C alkyl group and R5 is a 2-8C alkylene group).
