A surgical stapling system includes a surgical stapling apparatus and a staplecartridgesurgical buttress assembly. The surgical stapling apparatus includes a handleassembly, anelongate tubular body extending distally from the handle assembly, and an endeffectorextending distally from the elongate tubular body. The end effector includesan anvil assemblyand a staple cartridge assembly. The staple cartridge surgical buttressassembly includes asurgical buttress and a leash. The surgical buttress includes a body having anannularconfiguration and legs extending from the body. The body is positioned againsta tissue facingsurface of the staple cartridge assembly and the legs are positioned against ahousing of thestaple cartridge assembly. The leash is threaded through at least one of thelegs and extendsproximally from the surgical buttress towards the handle assembly.
