A system for pairing acontroller and an infusion pump is disclosed.The system includes an infusionpump, a controller device and a user interfaceresiding on both the infusionpump and the controller. The user interfaceincludes a pairing mode for enabling wireless communication betweenthe infusion pump and the controller device,wherein the user interface requiresboth the infusion pump and the controllerto be in the pairing mode simultaneously.Also, a method of changing apower source in a infusion pump is disclosed.The method includes placing theinfusion pump in idle mode wherein theinfusion pump stops delivery. Removingthe first power source from the infusionpump. Replacing the first power sourcewith a second power source in the infusionpump, and maintaining the insulinon board during the changing of the firstpower source with the second powersource.
