A nerve stimulationdevice includes a first waveform generatoradapted to generate a first waveform havinga first frequency capable of stimulatingnerves within a dermatome, a secondwaveform generator adapted to generatea first carrier waveform having a secondfrequency capable of passing throughtissue of a mammal, and a third waveformgenerator adapted to generate a secondcarrier waveform having a third frequencydifferent than the second frequency andbeing capable of passing through the tissueof the mammal. The device includes amodulator electrically coupled to the first,second and third waveform generators andadapted to modulate the first waveform,the first carrier waveform, and the secondcarrier waveform to generate a modulatedsignal package capable of stimulatingthe nerves at different depths withinthe dermatome. The device also hasan electrode electrically coupled to themodulator for applying the modulatedwaveform to the dermatomic region.
