A breastfeeding milk flow measurement device comprising a flexible nipple shield 1 adapted to operably conform in shape with a nipple, the shield defining a flow-channel through which a volume of milk passes from the nipple to a baby, the device further comprising a flow sensor 2 mounted within the flow channel and traverse to the direction of flow. The flow sensor may comprise of at least one strain gauge (4, 5, fig 2) mounted on a flexible member (2, fig 2) surrounded by a support member (1, fig 2), where the deformation of the flexible member affecting the resistance of the strain gauge is used to determine flow. The gauges can be arranged in a quarter, half or full Wheatstone bridge arrangement to measure both tensile and compression measurement of the flexible member. The gauge may be metal foil, semiconductor or piezo resistor type and the flexible materials comprises polymide. A cable 5, 6, 10, extending from the shield may have a memory element embedded in or on the cable and connected to a processing
