1. A method of controlling a surgical system comprising a fluid flow path, comprising: receiving pressure readings from an irrigation pressure sensor located along a fluid flow path; calculating an estimated amount of fluid flowing through the surgical system; correcting an estimated amount of fluid flowing taking into account correction factor; and controlling a source of pressurized irrigation fluid based on pressure readings and a calculated amount of flowing fluid, adjusted by a correction factor. 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the correction factor is based on leakage in the section area. The method of claim 1, wherein the correction factor is based on the compression ratio of the nozzle. The method of claim 1, further comprising: obtaining a desired value of an intraocular pressure value; and controlling a source of pressurized irrigation fluid in order to maintain the desired intraocular pressure value. 5. The method of claim 1, further comprising: obtaining a desired range of intraocular pressure; and controlling a source of pressurized irrigation fluid to maintain a desired range of intraocular pressure. 6. The method of claim 1, further comprising: calculating an intraocular pressure of the eye based on readings from an irrigation pressure sensor. The method of claim 1, further comprising: calculating an intraocular pressure value of the eye based on a calculated amount1.
