A surgical instrument, comprising: a handle assembly (2010)；a first endoscopic portion (2020a)； a first end effector (2030a) selectively connectable to the first endoscopic portion, the first end effector (2030a) configured to perform a first surgical function； a second end effector (2030b) selectively connectable with a second endoscopic portion (2020b), the second end effector (2030b) configured to perform a second surgical function； wherein the endoscopic portion (2020a, 2020b) includes a contact for communicating electrical power with a conductive portion of the handle assembly (2010) and wherein the conductive portion of the handle assembly (2010) includes at least one conductive ring (2014).
