PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a safe GAD (glutamic acid decarboxylase) activator and a glutathione formation promoter with vegetable components and to provide a cosmetic composition promoting the production of GABA (&gamma-aminobutyric acid) in vivo and having excellent beautification effects such as ameliorating effects on skin roughening, hair growth effects, preventing effects on skin aging and promoting effects on skin turnover by formulating the activator or promoter and to provide a beautification and health-conscious food composition normally maintaining levels of neutral lipids and cholesterol in blood and useful for prevention of obesity and prophylaxis of arteriosclerosis in addition to the beautification effects.
SOLUTION: The GAD activator or glutathione formation promoter comprises one or two kinds of vegetable extracts selected from bilberry and walnut. The cosmetic composition and beautification- and health-conscious food composition are obtained by formulating the activator or promoter.
