PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a patient support bed, stretcher or wheelchair with a device for treatment and/or a physiological monitoring device built therein.SOLUTION: A patient support system such as the bed, stretcher, or wheelchair includes an electronic control system and a user interface. The electronic control system and the user interface control bed functions such as articulation of the head, seat and leg sections of a bed deck, and control and/or monitor the operation of medical equipment such as a heart rate monitor 96, a blood pressure monitor 94, a thermometer, a sequential compression therapy device, a chest wall oscillation device, a respiratory therapy device 99 and a blood oxygen monitor. The electronic control system and the user interface communicate with a patient personal digital device such as an audio player, a computer and a phone.
