PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid or prevent the occurrence of the contact or collision of an obstacle with an occupant when the obstacle comes close to the occupant up to a required distance during various work using a riding type working vehicle such as a grass mower, and to minimize damage to the occupant when the occupant has abnormal behavior in a riding condition due to the collision of the obstacle with the occupant.

SOLUTION: The riding type grass mower has a safety device S. The safety device S comprises a sensor member for detecting the obstacle when the obstacle comes close to the occupant on a seat 1 up to a required distance, a sensor member 2 for detecting the abnormal behavior of the occupant in a riding condition, and stop control means (a gas spring 3, a control member 43, an operation lever 5, an arm member 40, and a control rod 45) for setting a travel driving system to be neutral or in backward operation when each sensor member detects the obstacle.
