Disclosed is a device for milking animals. The device includes a number of milking stations (1 A, 1 B) a first central milk line (5), a second central milk line (7) and a line cleaning device (8, 18). At least two milking stations (1A, 1 B) have a milk collecting container (2A, 2B) and a displacing means (6A, 6B) for displacing liquid from the milk collecting container (2A, 2B). The milk collecting container (2A, 2B) is connected to a first discharge line (3A, 3B) and to a second discharge line (4A, 4B). The second central milk line (7) is connected to the second discharge line (4A, 4B) for leading milk from the milking stations (1A, 1B) to a collective liquid discharge (6). The line cleaning device (8,18) is connected to the second central milk line (7) for cleaning the second central milk line (7) with a cleaning liquid. The supply connection (Y) of the line cleaning device (8, 18) with the second central milk line (7) is located equally far from the liquid discharge (6) as the connection (X', X") of a second discharge line (4A, 4B) with the second central milk line (7) and. The device includes a station cleaning device (8) for cleaning the parts of a milking station (1A, 1 B) that come into contact with milk. The station cleaning device (8) and the line cleaning device are the same in that the station cleaning device (8) is capable of being brought into a first position for cleaning only the second central milk line (7) and into a second position for cleaning only the milking station (1 A, 1 B).
