The invention relates to a radically polymerizable dental material, which contains (a) at least one poly-functional radically polymerizable monomer, (b) at least one additional radically polymerizable monomer which can be mono- or polyfunctional, (c) at least one photoinitiator for the radical polymerization, and (d) at least one filler. The material is characterized in that the mixture of monomers (a) and (b) has a refractive index of 1.50 to 1.70, and the refractive index of the monomer mixture corresponds to the refractive index of the filler being used or is up to 0.013 greater prior to the curing process and is at least up to 0.02 greater than the refractive index of the filler after the curing process.
